Hugo Fernández Bellón Student Grants

Hugo was a long standing member of our association and a keen supporter of our student membership. Enabling networking and socialising whether by meeting in person or virtually, furthering education and sharing knowledge were all important to him. This is reflected by the three grant categories that are awarded each year in his memory.

All current EAZWV student members are eligible for these grants.

They fall into three categories:

Grant Type	Zoo and Wildlife Health Conference Registration	Student Summer Workshop or Student Summer School Registration	Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine Article Submission Fee
Grant purpose	Full or partial coverage of Zoo and Wildlife Health Conference registration	Full or partial coverage of student summer school /workshop registration	Covers JZWM article submission fees
Who may apply	Current EAZWV Student Members Only	Current EAZWV Student Members Only	Current EAZWV Student Members Only
Additional requirements	May be required to help during the conference for a few hours. Share your conference insights and key takeaways with the student membership (talk).	May be required to help during the workshop or summer school for a few hours. Write a brief report to be published on the website following attendance.	To submit their study for presentation at ZWH conference. Produce a summary their study for EAZWV newsletter/website. Present their study at the end of year EAZWV webinar series.

Notes:

All applications are anonymised prior to review by the EAZWV student Board.
A member of scientific committee will assist in reviewing the JZWM article submission grant applications
Details of the scoring system for the grants can be found here.
Depending on the number of applications we receive, we may decide to award partial grants, thus benefitting more applicants.
Only eligible applications meeting the grant criteria will receive awards. Any unallocated grant funding will be returned to the EAZWV operating budget.
