Brochure: Giraffe Veterinary Care Workshop – Hosted by Columbus Zoo and Aquarium
Course dates – 10th to 14th November 2024, 29.5 hours CE credits though ACZM Topics to be covered, including practical components in the giraffe barn: • Preventative medicine programs • Training for Medical Behaviours and Building Effective Animal Health/ Animal Care relationships • General giraffe medicine • Lameness diagnosis and management, including radiography practical • Hoof health, maintenance and common distortions, including hoof trim demonstration • Birth Management Plan development • Neonate management, including live plasma collection and processing • Anesthesia, including stall design • Emergency response and preparedness, including barn design assessment • Giraffe diagnostic imaging, to include thermal imaging, ultrasound, and to include imaging demonstrations • Regenerative medicine • Giraffe nutrition overview • Workshop will end with a wrap up discussion covering common questions reading giraffe veterinary management Subject Matter Expects Dr. Priya Bapodra BVetMed MSc Dipl.
