In her upcoming presentation on "Wildlife Anaesthesia Monitoring in the Field," Fidu will delve into the essential practices, techniques, and equipment for the effective monitoring of anaesthetised wild animals in non-clinical environments. With a particular emphasis on respiratory and cardiovascular monitoring, Fidu will explore the challenges, solutions, and innovations that define best-in-practice approaches in wildlife anaesthesia today.
Speaker Bio Friederike Pohlin (Fidu) brings a wealth of experience from her role as wildlife veterinary researcher at the Research Institute of Wildlife Ecology, University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, Austria. With a deep-rooted passion for conservation medicine, Fidu's academic journey lead from a veterinary degree to a master's in Wildlife Ecology and board-certification in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. Her PhD work at the University of Pretoria concentrated on assessing stress and welfare in rhinoceroses during capture and transport, guiding her to a career dedicated to refining wild animal anaesthesia and translocation techniques.
