Endre Sos

Head Veterinarian, Budapest Zoo

I graduated at the University of Veterinary Science in Budapest in 1995 and immediately started as a zoo veterinarian in the same year at the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden. One year later I joined the EAZWV. I became the Head of the Veterinary and Conservation Department in 2003, and currently I am the Director of Veterinary Services and Conservation. Together with my team we are the official veterinarians in numerous current and former Life Plus conservation programs, . I am also involved in the conservation medicine of other high profile species, such as the Przewalski’s horse, Eurasian otter and the Eurasian beaver. I am one of the vet advisors in the Elephant TAG, Old World Monkey TAG, Przewalski’s horse EEP and Red panda EEP. Currently, I am the Vice-Chairman of the Hungarian Association of Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians (EAZWV Hungarian Section). I completed a PhD in Great Bustard medicine and became a Diplomate of the European College of Zoological Medicine (Zoo Health Management) in 2012.

My professional career supports my belief that the EAZWV is a great opportunity to become a zoo and wildlife veterinarian, finding collaborators and friends within this field. I apply for the Vice-Chair position to carry on this mission of our organization and support the great work of the board and working groups, also aiming to better involve the Central-Eastern European region.

Endre was elected Vice-President at the General Assembly in 2018.
