Zoo and Wildlife Health Conference 2020 - Social Programme


Please find below the list of the social events to be offered at the Zoo and Wildlife Health Conference 2020.

Ice Breaker

Time: Wednesday 20th May 2020, 20:00 - 23:00

Location: Rimbula Terrace, Jungola, Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen

Cost: Included in the conference fee.

Overview: Kick-off event where participants get to catch up with friends and welcome newcomers. Conference attendees and guests will enjoy drinks and snacks while overlooking the Elephant Valley and listening to the sounds of the Jungola jungle.

 

 

Festive Evening

Time: Thursday 21st May 2020, 20:00 - 23:00

Location: Restaurant in town, to be announced. 

Cost: 50€ - not included in the conference fee.

Overview: Fun night out for participants to enjoy the local culture. An evening of traditional Dutch food, entertainment (cabaret and quiz) and drinks. 

 

 

Poster and Pasta Party + Student Mentor Mixer

Time: Friday 22nd May 2020, 19:00 - 21:00

Location: Rabo Foyer, Atlas Theater, Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen

Cost: Included in the conference fee.

Overview: This year the poster event and the student mentor mixer will be held in the same venue for a prolonged period, to allow for everyone to experience both events. These events will take place in a large foyer of the main conference venue. The Poster and Pasta Party is an opportunity for all participants to spend an evening viewing the posters and chatting to the authors over a simple meal (all poster presenters are required to attend). The very successful Student Mentor Mixer gives pre and post graduate students an opportunity to speak to successful professionals and ask for advice, explore career options and get to know the opportunities available in the zoo and wildlife medicine field.  

 

 

Students Night Out

Time: Thursday 21st May 2020, starting at 21:00

Location: Bar & Club in town, to be announced 

Cost: 12.5€ - not included in the conference fee.

Overview: The biggest party of the Conference - This event is run by the EAZWV Student Section and it is mainly aimed at all student participants - however, in keeping with tradition, other participants are also welcome to join them!

 

Zoo Visit

Time: Saturday 23rd May 2020, 14:00 - 18:00

Location: Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen

Cost: Included in the conference fee.

Overview: The opportunity to visit the hosting institution, including selected backstage access.  The zoo is divided in three different areas: Nortica the polar region, Serenga the savannah, and Jungola the tropical jungle. 

 

 

Conference Banquet

Time: Saturday 23rd May 2020, 18:00 - 00:00

Location: Momma's Restaurant, Serenga, Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen.

Cost: Included in the conference fee.

Overview: The final event of the conference, for all participants to enjoy and say goodbye to friends and colleagues, until next year. The colourful restaurant overlooks the savannah and allows a peak into the giraffe enclosure.
