The German-speaking Section is an international group of colleagues specialized in the field of zoo and wildlife medicine, who originate mainly from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and several other countries.

Our group was formed more than half a century ago to facilitate the exchange of expertise in the broad field of zoo animal medicine and to contribute to good comradeship amongst its members. Our group seeks to provide a forum for a confiding exchange of information on the various topics related to our profession as zoo veterinarians, such as current changes in legislation, highest standards in animal husbandry & welfare, animal transportation etc.

For this reason, only professionals working at zoos, scientific institutions and universities are eligible for membership.

As of November 1, 2015, this section counts 100 members, and most of them (78%) are EAZWV affiliated.
